A guide to the best of London's most talked-about crescent — from Kingston to Barnet.
In August 2025, property commentator Saul Sadka posted a hand-drawn map on X that set London alight. The map outlined a banana-shaped crescent sweeping from Kingston and Surbiton in the southwest, arcing through Richmond, Wandsworth, Clapham, Chelsea, Kensington, Notting Hill, St John's Wood, Hampstead, Highgate, Muswell Hill, and Islington, before curving up to Finchley and Barnet in the north. Sadka argued this was the only truly "great" part of London — where leafy streets, excellent transport links, top schools, and cultural richness converge. The map went viral, sparking fierce debate: property data showed prices inside the banana average roughly 36% higher than outside, but critics called it elitist for completely ignoring the vibrant, diverse communities of East and South-East London.
